USWNT fans will have already noticed that this semifinal matchup is one that we have already seen at this tournament.
The two teams were drawn in Group B and it was a fixture that the U.S. won very convincingly nine days ago.
At the halfway stage in the first half, the two nations were level as Giulia Gwinn cancelled out Sophia Smith’s opening goal. But, just four minutes later, Mallory Swanson ensured the USWNT regained their one-goal lead.
And Smith added a second to make it 3-1 heading into halftime. Hayes’ side were relatively comfortable in the second half and signed off their victory with a fourth goal, this time from Lynn Williams, in the 89th minute.
