Sunderland set to sign Enzo Le Fee on loan from Roma

Sunderland are set to sign midfielder Enzo Le Fee on loan from Roma.

The 24-year-old only joined the Serie A side in a €23million move in July but has gone on to make just 10 appearances and only six starts.

Sunderland, fourth in the Championship table, will take Le Fee on loan for the remainder of the season and will be obligated to sign him permanently if they achieve promotion.

Sources at the Championship club, not authorised to speak publicly, indicate the agreed fee should they make the step up to the Premier League is £16million (€19m) plus performance-related bonuses.

If the additional payments are triggered it would represent a club-record purchase for Sunderland.

Le Fee came through the academy ranks at Lorient where he played under current Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris.

He moved to fellow French club Rennes in the summer of 2023 before joining Roma a year later.

Sunderland are next in action in the FA Cup third round against Stoke City on Saturday before facing Burnley, two points and two places above them in the Championship table, the following Friday.
