The Tampa Bay Rays’ José Siri and the Milwaukee Brewers’ Abner Uribe were ejected following a benches-clearing altercation between the two clubs at American Family Field in Milwaukee.

It’s unclear what was said between the two players, but the fight took place in the eighth inning on Tuesday night. Siri, the Rays center fielder, was retired on a routine ground out to first base. Uribe, the Brewers pitcher, covered in plenty of time. When Siri reached first base, the two appeared to exchange words.

The situation escalated when Uribe clocked Siri on the side of his helmet. First base umpire Alex Mackay was already holding Siri back. But the benches cleared, as both teams entered the fracas. Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins took a tumble in the mayhem. It did not appear as though any other hits landed.

Siri homered earlier in the game off of Milwaukee starting pitcher Freddy Peralta, who was ejected after hitting Siri on a 3-0 pitch during a subsequent plate appearance.

Suspensions are likely to come in subsequent days. The Brewers won the game 8-2 over the Rays, who have lost seven of their past nine games.
