Emergency services attended a scene in Warwickshire after the Real Madrid coach was involved in a road traffic collision while travelling back from Liverpool.
No players were on board the coach, which was carrying staff members and player equipment en route to London after Wednesday evening’s Champions League tie against Liverpool.
West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed the driver was treated for minor injuries and discharged at the scene.
A car and lorry were also involved in the collision, which took place on the M40 southbound between Hockley Heath and Warwick.
A statement from West Midlands Ambulance Service to The Athletic read: “We were called to reports of a collision involving a coach, lorry and car on the southbound M40, between junctions 16 and 15, at 1.19pm (GMT), one ambulance attended the scene.
“On arrival, we discovered one patient, a man, who was the coach driver. He was treated for minor injuries and discharged at the scene.”
National Highways: West Midlands said traffic was stopped following the incident before confirming at 2:05pm (GMT) that two of the three lanes between junction 15 and 16 had reopened.
Madrid were beaten 2-0 at Anfield after second-half goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo.
