Miami added another blue-chip recruit to its 2025 class on Thursday with a commitment from four-star tight end Luka Gilbert of Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio.

The 6-foot-7, 233-pound Gilbert is ranked No. 254 overall and the No. 12 tight end in the 247Sports Composite. He caught 15 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns as a junior and also played basketball as a sophomore.

Gilbert is the sixth commitment in Miami’s 2025 class that ranks No. 17 nationally. All but one of the commits is ranked in the top 500.

Miami didn’t get much production from its tight ends in 2023, but coach Mario Cristobal has said the position will be utilized more in 2024 with the return of Elijah Arroyo from injuries and progress made by younger players on the roster.

The Hurricanes signed four-star Elijah Lofton out of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman in the 2024 cycle. He’s expected to play multiple roles, including some out of the backfield, as a true freshman.
