Max Azria’s estate is off to auction
Nearly 20 years after purchasing the Holmby Hills estate with her late husband, the fashion designer Max Azria, Lubov Azria is preparing to send it off to auction. The Azrias meticulously renovated the house when they purchased it in the early aughts, but it’s been on and off the market since 2015 when it was listed for $85 million. With the most recent asking price being $55 million, bidding for the 14-bedroom, 25-bathroom estate is expected to start at $38 million.
The nearly three-acre property’s primary residence was designed by Paul R. Williams, a central figure in 20th-century Los Angeles architecture. Williams crafted homes for Lucille Ball, Cary Grant, and Frank Sinatra, among other high profile figures. The architect worked in a variety of revival styles, including Georgian Colonial, as exemplified by the Azria estate. As it stands today, the 30,000-square-foot structure contains no shortage of contemporary updates, including a 5,500-square-foot movie theater, massive walk in closets, and a hammam-style spa in the poolhouse. The property also has an infinity pool, a greenhouse, and five gardens, one of which is accompanied by a tea room.
“As we prepare to part ways with our house, we reflect on our original purpose—to create an environment where we can be inspired,” Lubov Azria shared in a statement. “We wanted to fuse the concept that one’s home should be their utopia, a centerpiece for family and friends, the center for celebrations and entertaining, a place that curates creativity and imagination to flow.”
The auction is being held by Concierge Auctions online from May 9 to May 23.

A penthouse in The Astor lists for $14 million
Built by a member of its legendary namesake family in 1901, The Astor condominiums on the Upper West Side of New York are in the midst of being reimagined. Led by the developers at CIM Group, BP Architects and interior design firm Pembrooke & Ives have touched up the property’s existing units and added three brand-new penthouses atop the historic structures. One of those duplex penthouses has just hit the market for $13.95 million.
