Manchester United defenders Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof will be out for a month.

Martinez, 26, has suffered a calf injury during training while Lindelof, 29, sustained a hamstring problem during the second half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Brentford.

Both are aiming to return before the end of this season. United’s final Premier League game comes in just under seven weeks on May 19 and the Old Trafford club could play in the FA Cup final on May 24 if they beat Coventry City in their semi-final later this month.

Martinez has had a torrid time with injuries during his second season with United, missing almost four months due to a foot injury sustained in September and before suffering a knee injury just four games into his return.

The Argentinian only made his comeback from that knee issue against Brentford, having replaced the injured Lindelof in the 69th minute. That was only Martinez’s 11th United appearance of the season.

Lindelof, meanwhile, has been more readily available for Erik ten Hag’s side this term, making 27 appearances in all competitions amid a groin injury which saw him miss a month of action around December and January.

United are back in action on Thursday when they travel to west London to face Chelsea. They then host Liverpool on Sunday.
