Jadon Sancho has been left out of Manchester United’s squad to face Fulham in their Premier League opener.
United manager Erik ten Hag said he had “drawn a line” under his differences with the 24-year-old winger after he returned to first-team training in July.
It was the first time Sancho had returned to the club’s first-team facilities in July for the first time since being exiled from the first team by Ten Hag following a defeat at Arsenal in September 2023.
However, the Englishman has been left out of United’s squad, with Antony being selected in his place.
Antony’s inclusion is notable as, unlike Sancho, the Brazilian did not start any of United’s pre-season fixtures and was left on the bench during the penalty-shootout defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield last Sunday.
Sancho, who spent the second-half of last season on loan at former club Borussia Dortmund, was a late substitute against Man City last Saturday. He had his penalty saved by Ederson during the shootout.
New signing Noussair Mazraoui has been named in the starting XI for his Man United debut while fellow new signing and former Bayern Munich and Ajax teammate Matthijs de Ligt has been named on the bench.
Man United XI to face Fulham: Onana, Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Mazraoui; Casemiro, Mainoo; Amad, Fernandes, Mount, Rashford.
Fulham XI to face Man United: Leno, Tete, Diop, Bassey, Robinson, Lukic, Pereira, Traore, Smith Rowe, Iwobi, Muniz.
