Introducing Layered Duality by Tarkett

We found our balance with Tarkett’s Layered Duality™ collection during Design Days in Fulton Market, Chicago earlier this summer. Now we are taking an in-depth look into this new, eco-friendly flooring solution.

Find your balance. Tarkett’s Layered Duality™ collection of high performance flooring, brings together diverse forms, textures and colors to create a dynamic and balanced sense of unity for interior spaces. These contrasting aesthetics combined with a mindful approach to materials deliver a unique level of harmony to any room or area.

The collection is available in four carpet tile styles in a variety of enticing neutrals, colors, and texture. Two non-PVC plank and tile styles will also be available in the near future.

Four Carpet Tile Styles

  • Attract A0044, featuring subtle neutral differences of linear and horizontal depth add visual interest and a timeless balance of neutral elements, setting the stage for an inviting, collaborative and comfortable atmosphere
  • Grounded Harmony A0043, which uses a corkscrew yarn technique to feature texture defined by color and fielded with heathered yarns; the merging of these elements allows the color to stand out
  • Balancing Act 11825, showcasing an interplay of light and shadow on the different heights and textures create a dynamic visual appeal, especially in rooms with ample natural light—adding dimension and richness to the overall aesthetic of the space
  • Balancing Accents 11826, which injects an extra element of intrigue with an added highlight of color on one of four tiles; the interplay of light and shadow on the sheared texture create a dynamic visual appeal

Designer Pro Tip: Balancing Act and Balancing Accents tiles are packaged and should be installed randomly. Even amounts of all four tiles are not guaranteed per carton.

Two Non-PVC Plank and Tile Styles

  • Confluent Path SFP, merging contrasting black and white lines on a color field to create a cohesive visual with an intriguing abstract of medium-scale texture featuring hand-drawn linework
  • Open Path SOA, a versatile option that features small-scale dotted textural elements that seamlessly coordinate with a range of soft surface color options to create a cohesive and visually appealing space

With Layered Duality, interior designers, architects and facility managers can shape interiors that make space for all—providing the kind of comfort, inspiration, and unmatched visual interest that promotes supportive communities.

By embracing different perspectives, we unlock a powerful experience of commonality and togetherness. And together, we find balance.

Take Us Back to the Start

Along the path to unity, the goal is to find and create balance. The excess or absence of one element can disrupt balance. Layers of line, texture and shape merge to form one surface. We consider the characteristics of each to form harmony.

Layered Duality is an exploration of the pairing of contrasting and complimentary elements. An experimentation with contrasting colors, styles, textures and light creates both cohesion and division. The positioning of opposing elements results in balanced surfaces as juxtaposition forms unity.

Aesthetically contrasting and complimentary surfaces inspire a harmonious approach to our blended surroundings. The styles express a highly textural exploration often flowing together or gathering in confluence.

Textures express opposition, yet merge in harmony. Layered Duality encourages creative blending between elements, people, ideas and environments.

Capturing opposing aesthetics create a powerful experience.

By embracing different perspectives, we unlock a powerful experience of commonality and togetherness.

What Designers Love about Layered Duality

The carpet tile styles highlight the simplicity and beautiful detail that can be achieved using
historic yarn techniques, e.g., a wool-like aesthetic achieved by blending different yarn deniers, adding brilliance with yarn accents, and creating a sophisticated visual is with shearing textured yarn paired with a fine-textured looped version of the same yarn.

Key features of the carpet tile styes include:

– Dynex SD® cationic nylon with permanent stain resistance
– Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver certification (ethos® Modular with Omnicoat
Technology®)
– Eco-Ensure™ soil protection, a chemistry with a C2C Certified Material Health
– Certificate™ at the Platinum level
– A limited lifetime warranty

As sensible solutions, the non-PVC plank and tile styles rival luxury vinyl tile in terms of
aesthetics, dimensional stability, impact resistance, and scuff resistance.
