Erling Haaland available for Manchester City against Burnley after foot injury

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Erling Haaland is available to play in Wednesday’s Premier League game against Burnley.

Speaking ahead of City’s FA Cup fourth-round game against Tottenham Hotspur, Guardiola said Haaland was free of pain and would “hopefully” return to action this week.

Haaland has not played Manchester City’s 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa on December 6 after fracturing a bone in his foot, missing his side’s last 10 games in all competitions.

“Apparently he will be selected, yeah. The first time he’s back,” Guardiola said.

City are second in the Premier League, five points behind leaders Liverpool having played one game fewer. Following Wednesday’s match against Burnley, City travel to Brentford next Monday before hosting Everton the following Saturday.

Haaland’s return could prove pivotal for City amid a busy February, a month where they play seven matches across the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

The 23-year-old had scored 19 goals in 22 games for City in all competitions, and had started all 15 of their Premier League fixtures before his injury.
