The Miami Dolphins have activated linebacker Jaelan Phillips from the PUP list allowing the standout pass rusher to being practicing, the team announced Monday. Phillips is recovering from a torn Achilles he suffered in the Dolphins’ Black Friday win over the New York Jets last November.

Prior to the injury, Phillips was having one of the best seasons of his young career. In eight games, the 2021 first-round draft pick tallied 6 1/2 sacks. His career high for a season prior to that was 8 1/2 — a mark he set his rookie year. Phillips also logged his first career interception in 2023.

Phillips told The Athletic the torn Achilles is the first lower-body injury that’s kept him out an extended period of time. He called rehab a “learning experience.”
The 25-year-old began training camp on the PUP list after physical therapy, chiropractic work and soft-tissue massages along with his usual workouts. He also incorporated Pilates.
