Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-Min will “hopefully” be available for their game against West Ham United on Saturday lunchtime.
Son suffered a hamstring injury during Tottenham’s 3-0 victory over Qarabag in the Europa League on September 26 which forced him to miss their next three games in all competitions, including the 3-2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 32-year-old was not included in South Korea’s squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Iraq and Jordan so worked on his fitness at Spurs’ training ground during the international break along with Richarlison.
Richarlison has only made two appearances for Tottenham this season, both from the bench, due to a series of injuries but could feature against West Ham, too.
“Sonny and Richy have done some good work and trained with the group which is a real positive for us,” Postecoglou told Tottenham’s in-house media channel. “Sonny was always hopefully going to get through this international break really well and be ready. Richy has done some good work. Hopefully both (will be) available for the weekend.”
Lucas Bergvall missed Sweden’s 3-0 victory over Estonia on Monday through injury and returned to London for treatment and Postecoglou said it is “a slight niggle but we are hoping he will be okay”.
He also revealed Wilson Odobert, who has been sidelined for four weeks with a hamstring problem, should return to group training next week.
