Ruben Amorim has added five coaches who he worked alongside at Sporting Lisbon to his new-look Manchester United backroom staff.
Carlos Fernandes, Jorge Vital, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro and Paulo Barreira have all joined the 39-year-old’s coaching set-up, where they will work alongside the remaining coaches at Old Trafford.
Darren Fletcher and Andreas Georgson, who worked as first-team coaches under former manager Erik ten Hag, remain at the club alongside assistant first-team goalkeeper coach Craig Mawson.
Fernandes will be Amorim’s assistant head coach, having worked alongside him at each of his spells in charge of Casa Pia, Braga and Sporting in Portugal.
Vital arrives as goalkeeper coach, while Candido and Ferro both join as first-team coaches and Barreira — who formerly worked at Arsenal and Liverpool — as a physical performance coach.

Amorim emerged as United’s first choice to replace Ten Hag after building a strong reputation as one of Europe’s most highly-rated young coaches after winning the Portuguese title twice including earning Sporting’s first in 19 years in his first full season in 2020-21.
He left Sporting top of the table after a perfect record of 11 wins from 11 games this season, with 39 goals scored and just five against. They also sit second in the Champions League’s new-look league phase after three wins and a draw.
Ten Hag departed Old Trafford after two and a half years in charge last month having won only four of United’s opening 14 games of the season.
Former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy was put in interim charge for the period before Amorim’s arrival and guided the team to three wins from four including Sunday’s home victory over Leicester City.
But it was confirmed earlier this week that he would depart with Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel also leaving.
Amorim’s first match in charge of United is a Premier League trip to Ipswich Town on November 24.
