Europcar Dominicana recently delivered over 100 electric vehicles to the fleet operation of the Punta Cana-Macao Energy Consortium (CEPM), a Dominican Republic electric power provider that includes Evergo, GEDOM, InterEnergy Systems, and CEB.

The EV fleet is expected to help reduce carbon emissions while saving on operating and maintenance costs. CEPM now has a 100% electric vehicle fleet.

The EV deliveries were made possible through an operational leasing model, which serves as both a simple financial tool and a driving force behind the arrangement of this electric fleet. Operational leasing offers advantages such as cost predictability and flexibility to adapt to changing needs. It also allows companies to access assets without compromising their capital, with added benefits such as risk management, insurance, and tax advantages.

With operational leasing, companies can reduce their carbon footprint, minimize operating costs, and improve efficiency by accessing cutting-edge technology without compromising their capital.

“These vehicles represent not only an investment in advanced technology but also in our environment, in the quality of life of the communities we serve, and in the future of generations to come,” said Oscar San Martín, general manager of CEPM, in an Aug. 30 news release. “Every kilometer traveled with these electric vehicles is a step toward a greener and more sustainable world.”

Europcar has also launched a new service station at EvergoConnect. This facility will not only serve CEPM’s electric fleet and its allied companies but also offer the public the opportunity to rent electric vehicles for short, medium, and long-term use.

CEPM is a leading electricity provider in the Dominican Republic, powering about 65% of the national tourism sector representing over 50,000 hotel rooms and more than 50,000 residential and business customers, according to a 2022 Bank of America news release.

The private company has a 40-year concession contract to supply power that expires in April 2032, according to a bnamericas company profile. CEPM was founded in 1992 and is based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Europcar, a major mobility and rental car brand in Europe, has more than 30 years of experience in the Dominican Republic, where it has established itself as an experienced company in the operational leasing sector. With a wide network of offices in all airports across the country, Europcar offers mobility solutions tailored to its clients’ needs.
